Consular Services in Durban 28-30 September 2012.
There are approximately 1500 persons of Cypriot origin residing in Durban and the surrounding areas.More than 50 persons were assisted on Saturday 29 September at the old premises of the Hellenic Community of KwaZulu Natal and the trip proved to be very fruitful. Similar trips will be scheduled in the near future to other cities to assist Cypriot Citizens throughout South Africa. The High Commission would like to urge all persons of Cypriot origin to register as Citizens of the Republic.
On the evening of the 29thof September, the Hellenic Community of KwaZuluNatal hosted their Annual Ball which was attended by approximately 300 members of the community. This was a wonderful opportunity for the High Commissioner to meet the members of the community most of which are of Cypriot origin as well as the veteran South African politician, the Honorable Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi who was also invited to the function.
On Sunday 30 September the High Commissioner and the Consular Officer attended the mass at the Orthodox Church of Saint Nicholas.
The Republic of Cyprus is represented in Durban by the Honorary Consul Mr. Savvas Stylianou who through his voluntary assistance to the people and the Republic of Cyprus is a model example for all Cypriots.
