Welcome to the website of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus located in Copenhagen, being accredited to the Kingdom of Denmark and the Republic of Iceland.
The Embassy works actively to strengthen the ties with Denmark and Iceland. With Denmark, we enjoy close and warm relations, both as partners within the European Union and on a bilateral basis. As countries which share the same values and commitment to effective multilateralism, we are also working efficiently together to advance common goals and objectives.
Our two countries share a long historical connection. Notable milestones include the time when Danish King Erik I passed away in 1103 in the western town of Paphos and was subsequently buried in full honors there. Trade relations between the two countries were already established since the Middle Ages. In recent times, we note Denmark’s contribution with more than 22.000 Danish peacekeepers to the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus from 1964 -1992, the trio cooperation during our Presidencies of the Council of the European Union in 2012, as well as the upcoming one in 2025-26, and the close cooperation between the cities of Paphos and Aarhus as European Capitals of Culture in 2017.
Cyprus and Iceland maintain excellent bilateral relations and cooperate regularly in international organizations, despite the vast geographical distance between the two islands.
One of the main priorities of our Embassy is to be at the service of the Cypriots, and other residents in Denmark and Iceland for consular affairs. We also invite you to follow the Embassy’s Facebook and Twitter accounts where we are trying to make available relevant information and news on political, cultural, and consular issues.
Every year, we welcome tens of thousands Danish and Icelandic visitors to Cyprus, excitedly sharing our unique culture, hospitality, beaches and inspiring landscapes. Tourism, has for the past decades contributed in maintaining a good level of communication and exchanges at a people-to-people level. In case you want to trigger your curiosity and learn more about visiting Cyprus, I recommend you to have a look at the website of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, Visit Cyprus.
I hope you will find the website informative and do not hesitate to contact us for additional questions.
