The Embassy of Cyprus in Madrid was established in 1992. Prior to the establishment of the Embassy in Madrid, Cyprus diplomatically covered Spain from its Embassy in Paris.
The first Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Spain, based in Madrid, was accredited on January 10, 1994, Mr. Elias Iliadis, who since the establishment of the Embassy in 1992, has been acting as a delegate.
The current Ambassador of Cyprus to Spain is also accredited to the Principality of Andorra and to two international organizations based in Madrid, the World Tourism Organization and the International Olive Oil Council.
The mission of the Embassy of Cyprus in Madrid is to promote and further improve political, trade, economic, cultural and all other forms of relations with Spain.
In addition, the Embassy provides consular services as well as tourist information about Cyprus.
The Embassy does not have a Commercial Office. Based on the arrangements of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, the trade and economic relations with Spain are covered by the Cyprus Commercial Office in Paris (https://commerce-chypre.fr/)
