The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the University of Cyprus, in the framework of their cooperation within the research programme “Eurodaktylios”, have published a volume concerning the relations between Cyprus and Poland.
The volume entitled “Cyprus-Poland: From the country of Chopin to the island of Aphrodite” constitutes a symbolic contribution by Cyprus to the Polish Presidency of the EU Council.
The publication offers a wide spectrum of the relations between the two countries from the Middle Ages, to the Polish travelers to the Holy Land, to the Polish refugees in Cyprus during the Second World War, the Cypriot volunteers who faught in Poland, the diplomatic relations since 1961, to the Polish citizens who live today in Cyprus.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis presented the book on 29/12/11 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Remarks were offered by the Rector of the University of Cyprus, professor Constantinos Christophides and the Ambassador of Poland in Cyprus Mr Powel Dobrowolski.
The presentation of the book in Warsaw took place on 20 January 2012. The event was organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Poland, the Warsaw University and the University of Cyprus.
