The Government of the Cyprus Republic condemns the overthrow of constitutional order in Honduras, 02.07.09
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Markos Kyprianou informed the Council of Ministers yesterday on the situation in Honduras and the common position of the European Union member states adopted in Corfu on 28 June, which condemns the expulsion of the democratically elected President of Honduras by the armed forces of the country. The Government of the Republic of Cyprus condemns the disturbance of the constitutional order and supports its restoration as well as the carrying out of fair and democratic elections. Respect of constitutional order and human rights constitutes the cornerstone of democratic governance. The Government of the Republic of Cyprus supports the safe return of the democratically elected President to Honduras and the immediate and full restoration of democracy in the country.

President Christofias to travel to Armenia, 02.07.09
The President of the Republic Mr Demetris Christofias will pay an official visit to Armenia on 6 and 7 July, accompanied by his wife, Mrs Elsi Christofia. The Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, 30.06.09
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Markos Kyprianou met today at his office with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Mr. Matthew Bryza. In statements to the Press Mr. Kyprianou described the meeting as interesting and said that they discussed mainly the Cyprus issue and the current phase of the direct talks. He added that they also referred to other issues of common interest, such as the situation in Georgia, Armenia and other issues regarding Southeast Europe. Mr. Kyprianou pointed out that, in addition to the USA’s interest in the Cyprus problem, there is also the prospect for closer cooperation between the two countries on other bilateral as well as regional issues. He recalled that this was one of the main concluding points of his meeting with the US Secretary of State Mrs. Clinton last April, namely that the two countries are moving into a phase of closer cooperation on matters of international interest that concern both countries. The Permanent Secretary visits India for consultations, 30.06.09
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Ambassador, Mr. Nicolaos Emiliou, will be paying a working visit to New Delhi from 1-3 July 2009, for the third round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus and India. During the consultations, the Permanent Secretary and the Secretary (West) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nalin Surie, will examine various aspects of the bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries. Moreover, they will discuss regional and international issues of common interest, while the Permanent Secretary will avail himself of the opportunity to inform his interlocutor of the recent developments regarding the Cyprus problem. During his stay in New Delhi, the Permanent Secretary will call on the Honorable Minister of State for External Affairs of India, Mrs Preneet Kaur.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs participated in the Informal Meeting of OSCE Foreign Ministers in Corfu, 29.06.09
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Markos Kyprianou participated in the Informal Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) which was held on June 27 - 28 on the island of Corfu. The Meeting was organized by the 2009 Greek chairmanship of the Organization. The present and the future of security in Europe was the main issue discussed at the meeting. The participants referred to the need for improvement of the current security structures and, at the same time, for the implementation of the existing commitments in the area of European security. The Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Informal Meeting of OSCE Foreign Ministers, 26.06.09
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Markos Kyprianou will represent the Republic of Cyprus at the Informal Meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Foreign Ministers which will be held on June 27 - 28 on the island of Corfu. The meeting will provide an informal framework to consider matters related to security in Europe, in the present and in the future, and the OSCE's role.

Cyprus Ambassador to Cairo presents credentials, 25.06.09

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Markos Kyprianou had a meeting, yesterday, with the Foreign Minister of the United Arabic Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nayan. In statements after the meeting, Mr Kyprianou said that he was happy and proud to welcome his counterpart of the United Arabic Emirates with whom, as he said, he had a very constructive and friendly meeting.
