Entry and stay in Cyprus

Overseas Cypriots who do not have Cypriot citizenship may enter Cyprus without a visa and stay and work in Cyprus without formalities for an unlimited period of time. It follows of course that if the position in which they work requires them to be Cypriot citizens (as e.g. permanent public servants) they must then acquire Cypriot citizenship. There are also certain professions for which the registration of those concerned is required in special Associations, Societies, Boards etc., before they undertake work in these professions. To such safeguarded professions belong doctors, dentists, lawyers, civil engineers, architects, estate agents etc.

Alien persons married to Cypriot citizens do not acquire any privileges or rights by reason of their marriage and must apply for registration as aliens and for a permit for temporary residence and for work when they come to Cyprus.
