Mr Andreas Zenonos presented his credentials, on 5 September 2012, to the President of Lithuania, Mrs Dalia Grybauskaité, as the new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Lithuania, based on Warsaw, during a short ceremony, which was held at the Presidential Palace, in Vilnius.
At a meeting that followed the ceremony, Mr Zenonos, after conveying the greetings of the President of the Republic, Mr Demetris Christofias, thanked the President of Lithuania for the support of her country regarding the Cyprus issue.
The President of the Republic of Lithuania, Mrs Dalia Grybauskaité, congratulated Mr Andreas Zenonos for presenting his credentials, conveying her greetings to President Christofias and the people of Cyprus. Then, she asked to be informed on the situation in Cyprus and the Ambassador briefed her in this respect on the latest developments on the Cyprus issue, stressing the intransigent and negative stance of Mr Eroglu and Turkey. The President of Lithuania reiterated her support for the Cyprus issue, which is based on positions of principle.
Moreover, the President of Lithuania expressed the wish for the further development of the two countries’ relations, especially in the fields of economy, trade and tourism. Finally, in view of the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union by Lithuania during the second half of 2013, the President of the country was briefed by the Ambassador on the experience of the Republic of Cyprus.
