Incentives to Farmers

RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME 2007-2013

The Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 which has its basis on Council Regulation (EC) No 1698/2005, includes 24 Measures, which revolve around 4 Priority Axes. The Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 is co-funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development 2007-2013 and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus. For the needs of the Programme, the sum of €329m will be made available.

The general objectives of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 are to support the competitiveness of the products in which Cyprus has a comparative advantage, the preservation and improvement of the environment and the strengthening of biodiversity, and the encouragement of diversification and improvement of the quality of life in the rural areas. Furthermore, it sets in motion the mobilization of the developmental workforce of the Rural Areas aiming for a complete, high quality, sustainable development. The Measures of the Programme are implemented by 6 Implementation Units and are shown in the Table below:
