Cyprus’ Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Andreas Mavroyiannis and the Permanent Representative of Guinea-Bissau Ambassador Alfredo Lopes Cabral signed yesterday in New York a document establishing diplomatic relations between Cyprus and Guinea-Bissau. The Ambassadors expressed their satisfaction as the diplomatic relations will strengthen ties and friendly bonds between the two countries. In a joint press release, the two Governments express their readiness to work towards enhancing bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation in all fields, in accordance with the principles and norms of international law and the UN Charter. The communiqué also states that that the establishment of diplomatic relations corresponded to the national interests of both countries and would help in consolidating international peace and security as well as peaceful co-existence.
