The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis departed yesterday for Moscow, from where she will travel to Kazakhstan, Armenia and Uzbekistan, for official visits, between 2 and 6 April.
The first stop of the Minister’s tours will be Kazakhstan, on Monday. The visit is held at the invitation of her counterpart Mr Yerzhan Kazykhanov.
During the visit, a Protocol of Cooperation will be signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministries of Education and Culture of the two countries on issues of scientific and technical cooperation.
Dr Marcoullis will have extended talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, during which ways of developing bilateral relations, EU-Kazakhstan relations and issues of international interest are expected to be discussed. The Minister will brief her Kazakh counterpart on the developments on the Cyprus issue, energy issues and issues related to the upcoming assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the EU. A joint Press conference will follow. Mr Kazykhanov will host a working lunch in honour of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Minister will also meet with the Special Representative of the President of the Republic Mr Mukhtar Abraruly, the Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Mr Kairat Mami, the Minister of Education and Science Mr Bakytzhan T. Zhumagulov, the Minister of Finance Mr Bolat B. Zhamishev as well as the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mrs Zhanar Aitzhanova.
The Minister will depart from Kazakhstan for Armenia on Tuesday, 3 April.
