| The Consulate assists Cypriot citizens in Australia and provides visa services. Additionally, the Consulate receives and submits applications for Cypriot passports and reports of birth abroad, performs notarial services, acts on behalf of the Social Security Administration, monitors arrests of Cypriot citizens in Australia and visits incarcerated Cypriots to determine that jail conditions provide a minimally healthy environment, and that they are being treated in a manner consistent with local and international law.
The Consulate works with authorities of the host country to assist Cypriot victims of crime and to locate missing Cypriots. Finally, the Consulate is also responsible for assisting Cypriot citizens in Australia in the event of natural disasters or other large-scale emergencies.
