1. IMPORTANT NOTE
i). It is informed that visas will not be granted to applicants with itineraries regarding illegal entries from ports and airports situated in the part of the Republic of Cyprus, which is occupied by the Turkish troops since 1974.
ii). Travelers entering the Republic of Cyprus via the illegal / closed airports and ports (i.e. all the airports and ports in the occupied areas), are in breach of the national law of the Republic of Cyprus and subject to sanctions. Therefore, you are urged to travel via the recognized ports of entry, so as to avoid any possible problems (provided that a visa has been granted to you). The legal ports of entry into the Republic of Cyprus are the airports of Larnaca and Paphos and the ports of Larnaca, Limassol, Latsi and Paphos, which are situated in the area under the effective control of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus.
iii). Any entry into the territory of the Republic of Cyprus via any other port or airport in the area of Cyprus, where the Government of the Republic does not exercise effective control (Turkish occupied area) is illegal”.
iv). It is also informed that the Government of the Republic of Cyprus is the only recognized Government on the island (a member of the EU since 1.5.2004, as well as member of the UN and other International organizations). As a result of the Turkish military occupation in 1974, the Government of the Republic of Cyprus is not in a position to exercise effective control over the occupied areas of the Republic. The so-called "trnc" has been condemned and declared illegal and invalid by the whole International Community through Security Council Resolutions 541/83 and 550/84. With the sole exception of Turkey, no state in the world or International Organization recognizes this illegal secessionist entity.
v). Presently, it is possible for foreign tourists who visit the government controlled area of the Republic of Cyprus, to cross to the occupied areas through 7 crossing points, at their own risk as the area is not under the effective control of the Republic of Cyprus. In case of any eventuality, the government as well as diplomatic missions of your respective countries accredited to Cyprus will not be in a position to help you while you are in the occupied part.
vi). The premises of the most of the "hotels" in the occupied part of the Republic of Cyprus either belong to the Greek Cypriot refugees or they have been illegally built on their (Greek Cypriot Refugees) usurped properties. Therefore, staying in Greek Cypriot owned hotels or in hotels, which have been built on Greek Cypriot properties without the consent of the owners, is illegal and contributes and/or assists in illegal exploitation/usurpation of Greek Cypriot properties contrary to domestic and/or international law, which may put you at great risk of possible legal action on the part of the owners. vii). The same applies to the illegal "educational institutions" operating in the occupied part of the Republic of Cyprus. It is informed that the so-called “educational institutions” in the said part of the Republic of Cyprus operate under the purported “law” of the secessionist entity, which as per the international law constitute invalid entities, recognized only by Turkey. The majority of these illegal institutions, much like the majority of hotels in the occupied part of the Republic of Cyprus, unlawfully use properties belonging to Greek Cypriot refugees. It is also pertinent to note that these so-called educational institutions are neither recognized nor accredited by the Competent Authority of the Republic of Cyprus, the Council of Educational Evaluation –Accreditation (CEEA), the only one, officially operating in the Republic of Cyprus.
2. CATEGORIES OF VISAS
i). Single entry visas:
This visa entitles aliens who seek to enter the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, for reasons other than immigration, to enter once. The duration of each visit may not, however, exceed three months in any half year, starting from the date of first entry.
ii). Multiple entry visas:
As a general rule, this visa is issued for one or several entries. In the case of aliens who need to travel frequently to Cyprus, e.g., business, this type of visas is issued for several visits, provided that the total length of these visits does not exceed three months in any half year. This multiple-entry visa may be valid for one year and, in exceptional cases, for more than a year, but for no more than five years for certain categories of persons.
3. VISA APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Visa applications may kindly be submitted at the VFS Global Limited: Address: Shivaji Stadium Metro Station, Mezzanine Level, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Connaught Place, New Delhi 110001, Phone:022 6786 6022 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm) or through/in the VFS branches in your respective city of residence. Applications may also be submitted at the Consular Section of the High Commission from 10 am to 1 pm (Mon- Friday), in person or through an authorized representative. Applicants who reside more than 200 miles (300 kms) from the Consulate, may submit their applications by a registered courier, including a registered prepaid self-addressed, special-delivery envelope, for the safe return of the passport and the documents. The High Commission does not take responsibility for the loss of passports/ documents while sent or returned through mail/ courier.
Visa Applications should be submitted with the following documentation:
i). Application form (link available below), duly completed and signed by the applicant (or the legal guardian in the case of minors), with two passport- sized photographs with white background. One photograph signed on the back by the applicant must be pasted (not stapled) at the required space in the application form and the other to be slightly pasted with top edges, close-by.
ii). For children under the age of 18 the written consent of both parents is necessary.
iii). Original passport along with copy of main pages, valid for at least three months after the date of expiration of the visa applied for. Visitors wishing to obtain a visa are advised to be in possession of a passport valid for at least six months from date of entry to Cyprus.
iv). The visa for the return country must be valid for at least three months after the period of the intended stay.
v). Provisional booking( or the Itinerary of travel arrangements, i.e. round-trip ticket with fixed dates) is necessary. You are advised that tickets should not be purchased before the visa is issued.
vi). A hotel reservation, confirmed by the hotel manager, for the period of intended stay, is necessary.
vii). In case of a business trip, an official letter of invitation from a Cyprus company must be presented.Commercial document, i.e., certificate from the respective Chamber of Commerce and Industry, company’s registration certificate, both in original and photocopy, are also required to be submitted.
viii). For a visit to family and friends, a letter of invitation, including complete address, phone number and occupation in Cyprus, must be submitted (This may be requested together with a certified Assumption of Responsibility form (link available below), duly completed, signed by the host and certified by the Certifying Officer in Cyprus).
ix). Solid evidence of the last three months that there are sufficient funds to cover the cost of the intended stay in Cyprus, e.g. a bank statement or travelers’ cheques (credit cards can be accepted only in addition to bank statements and only with recent statement confirming credit limit. Please note that cash is not an acceptable proof). The original Bank Statement should be signed and sealed by the competent issuing authority. The Statement must mention the issuing branch telephone numbers with code numbers. The applicants must inform their bank to give the required information to the High Commission for the purpose of processing the visa application. In case banks deny sharing information with the High Commission, the application will not be processed.
x).Copies of the tax declarations for last three years. In case, the declarations are not available, a relevant undertaking on the reasons thereof should be submitted.
xi).A recent (dated within one month only) official letter from the employer, addressed to the Cyprus Consulate with proof of the applicants wages / salary. If self-employed, a letter from the solicitor, the accountant or the bank manager of the applicant will be sufficient. If a student in the country of the Consulate, an original letter from the school or University addressed to the Cyprus Consulate confirming the status / attendance and the duration of the course.
xii) Medical travel insurance (coverage of at least €30.000), valid for the entire duration of stay in Cyprus.
xiii).Copy of the Bank guarantee letter from the host valid for the period of ten year and stamped by the Migration Department in Nicosia, so as to cover the possible cost of repatriation. Bank guarantee letters are issued for the amount of:
- €854 for visitors from India, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, China, and other Asian countries.
- €515 for visitors from the CIS, and other Eastern Europe countries.
- €341 for visitors from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and other Middle East countries.
If visiting friend or family (additional visa requirements):
i). Assumption of responsibility form fully completed, signed by the host and certified by the local municipal authorities or a certifying officer in the Republic of Cyprus. (Assumption of responsibility form).
ii). Certified copy of host's passport or ID.
iii). Detailed letter of invitation with full addresses and contact details of host.
iv). If host is supporting applicant's trip financially, proof of income of host for past three months or bank certificate is necessary.
iv). Copy of the bank guarantee letter, valid for 10 years. The bank guarantee letter should be stamped also by the Migration Department in Nicosia.
Additional documents required for student visa:
Note: Presently entry permits are being issued to the prospective foreign students by the Civil Registry and Migration Department of the Republic of Cyprus. Holders of entry permits may travel to Cyprus on the basis of such entry permits. They do not need a separate visa in their passport from the High Commission.
i). Confirmed air ticket / e-ticket with a photocopy.
ii). Original Police Clearance Certificate from the Regional Passport Office, Ministry of External Affairs, (also endorsed on the passport) with two photocopies.
iii). Original Bank Certificate with two photocopies, stating that the parents or sponsors (names listed) have the financial means to cover their expenses (eg. tuition and accommodation fees and personal expenses for the duration of the studies).
iv). Original Academic Certificates with two sets of photocopies {translated in English (if required) and attested by the school authorities}.
v). Endorsement in the passport of at least EURO 2500 towards personal expenses, with the receipt in original & photocopy.
vi). Letter of acceptance from the college (original & photocopy).
The above mentioned documents should be submitted in 3 sets as below:
- one set of all originals
- one set of all copies + application form duly filled in.
- one set of copies of the documents as underlined above.
In addition to the above, a personal interview of the applicant with the Consular Officer is also required.
4. Travel Information:
A passport is required, except for holders of:
i). Laissez-Passer issued by the United Nations.
ii). Travel Document issued to stateless persons and recognised refugees in accordance with the Geneva Convention of 1951.
iii). Citizens of the European Union countries, as well as of Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway may enter Cyprus with their national identity card provided it contains a photograph.
4. USEFUL INFORMATION:
i). All documents must be in English, Greek or Turkish. Documents in other languages must be officially translated and certified.
ii). Should you wish to keep your original documents, please submit a photocopy of each document along with the original.
iii). Please note that additional documents might be requested during the processing of your application.
iv). No appointment is required for the submission of visa applications.
v).Securing a visa from the High Commission does not guarantee an automatic entry into Cyprus. The Migration Authorities at the airport reserve the right to deny entry even to visa holders.
vi). Applications should be submitted at least 15 days prior to intended date of travel.
vii). Applicants may be requested to personally attend an interview at the Cyprus High Commission.
viii). An authorization letter must be presented for the collection of passport, if the the applicant and the authorized representative who submitted the application, is unable to do so.

The visa fee is only for the evaluation and the processing of a visa application. In case of a rejection of the application, visa fee is not refundable. Payments can be made only in cash and only in local currency at the time of submission.
Gratis Visas are issued for:
i). Spouse of EU/EEA/CH citizen (copy of valid marriage certificate and spouse’s EU/EEA/CH passport).
ii). Children of EU/EEA/CH citizen (copy of unabridged birth certificate and Parents EU/EEA/CH passport).
Citizens or residents of Afghanistan, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Somalia, Iraq, Syria and Pakistan or travelers who visited the above mentioned countries for a period of more than 4 weeks, they have to provide International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis against poliomyelitis, additional to the other requirements.
