Applying for a Cypriot passport

According to the current regulations in place (w.e.f. 20 February 2015), the new Cypriot passports are to be issued bio-metric only, for which the prospective applicants have to visit either Cyprus or the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Cyprus abroad, which are equipped with bio-metric stations.

As the Cyprus High Commission in New Delhi was equipped with a bio-metric station on 29 November 2017, it started receiving relevant applications with immediate effect.

Other diplomatic missions of the Republic of Cyprus, which are equipped with such facility are Berlin, Beirut, Cairo, Tel Aviv, Athens, Stockholm, Moscow, London, Pretoria, Paris, The Hague, Toronto, New York, Washington, Canberra, Vienna, Madrid and Doha.

Interested applicants may either visit Cyprus or the nearest diplomatic missions equipped with the above facility.

Changes regarding the validity of ordinary passports

The following regulations will come into effect regarding the validity/fee of the ordinary passports of the Republic of Cyprus as from 2 January 2017:

1. The validity of ordinary passports reverts back to ten years with the fee of €70.

2. The validity of limited period ordinary passports issued to minors remains unchanged, i.e. five years with the fee of €45.

3. The validity of passports issued under fast procedure (fast version) reverts back to ten years, while for minors under the same procedure, passports will be issued for a limited validity of five years.

4. The fee for all passports issued under fast procedure (fast version) remains €120.
