Alerts about fake entry permits and job offer letters
The High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in New Delhi has been receiving requests from the prospective Indian job-seekers to verify the alleged entry permits and job-offer letters provided to them mainly by the consultants and agents. It is has been discovered that in majority of the cases (approx. 99% cases), the entry permits and job-offer letters are found to be counterfeit/fake.
The High Commission wishes to alert the prospective job-seekers to be cautious while dealing with the"Agents/Consultants", who claim to arrange and facilitate entry permits and job offer letters in return of money and do not provide their identification proof.
It is also informed that the Competent Authorities of the Republic of Cyprus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus and the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in New Delhi
do not seek any personal information such as the name, passport no. entry permit no etc through their websites nor do they provide any such facilities to verify documents online. It is also noted that the High Commission
does no
t call for interviews of the prospective job-seekers who have requested for verification of their documents.
Recently, three fake websites (
www.egov-cy.org
,
www.egovt-cy.org
and
http://mofagov-cyprus.com
) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus have been created by the fraudesters by means of copying or otherwise the
real website
(
www.mfa.gov.cy
) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus to misguide the prospective job-seekers.
As regards the verification of " employment entry permit", it is reminded that the High Commission of Cyprus in New Delhi is not the issuing authority for entry permits.
We suggest that you may get in touch with your prospective employer in Cyprus. The employer's details are mentioned in the entry permit,
if the same (entry permit) is genuine.
We wish to caution you against making any payments to agents/consultants prior to having confirmed the authenticity of the document under reference.
