The Maritime Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Greece is based in Piraeus. It operates under the Shipping Deputy Ministry of the Republic of Cyprus as its Piraeus Maritime Office. The Shipping Deputy Ministry’s mission is to safeguard and further develop Cyprus shipping as a safe, socially responsible and sustainable industry, for the enhancement of the national economy and the creation of new jobs, specialization and expertise in the sector. The Piraeus Maritime Office is responsible for the implementation of the Shipping Deputy Ministry’s policy and more specifically, among its other activities, to cooperate and provide services to companies and organisations based in Greece.

Services provided by the Piraeus Maritime Office:
· Ship registration and related transactions
· Issuance of vessels’ certificates
· Issuance of seafarers’ certificates
· Provision of technical services (ships’ surveys, ships’/companies’/ classification societies’ audits)
· Promotion of Cyprus shipping (participation in maritime exhibitions and conferences, organizing of various shipping events and meetings etc)
· Legalisation of shipping documents
· Legalisation of shipping log books
· Sale of Cyprus official log books / ship’s articles
· Facilitation of payments from companies, ships and seafarers concerning tonnage tax and other various charges for settlement of their financial obligations
