Mr. Constantinos Christofides
Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus
Mr. Constantinos Christofides has assumed his duties as Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in Toronto on September 1, 2014 with jurisdiction over Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, and the territories of Yukon, Northwestern and Nunavut.
Prior to his posting in Toronto, Mr. Christofides served as Deputy Head of the Department of Multilateral Relations and International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus (April 2013 – August 2014). During this time he was responsible for the dossiers of the United Nations, the Commonwealth, Council of Europe, and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). He was also responsible for the promotion of Cyprus' candidacy to the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) at the elections that were held in November 2013.
Between September 2009 and March 2013, Mr. Christofides was appointed as Mertens Coordinator of Coreper (Comité des représentants permanents) at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU in Brussels. During his term in Brussels, Mr. Christofides was part of the core management team of the first Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.
From September 2008 until September 2009 he served as Human Rights Officer and from February 2006 to September 2008 as Officer for Nordic Countries, the UK, Ireland, the Baltic States, Germany and Austria
Mr. Christofides holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) in International Corporate Finance and Information Technology from Fordham University in New York, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ashland University in Ohio.
Mr. Christofides was born in Lefkosia, Cyprus.
