Today third-country nationals have several options of obtaining permission to enter the Republic of Cyprus:
- VISA (sticker in a tourist’s passport)
All types of Visas are issued FREE OF CHARGE for holders of Russian passports. All other applicants shall pay a fee of 20 euro for a Single Entry Visa and 60 euro for a Double or Multiple Entry Visa. The amount is paid in Rubles according to the rate which is fixed for every month by the Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus.
1. Short-stay or travel visa, multiple-entry visa (C)
This category of a visa is issued for a citizen of a third country to enter Cyprus and is valid for one or several entries. Multiple-entry visas can be issued for up to 3 years and in exceptional cases up to 5 years at the discretion of the Consul General.
The total period of stay must not exceed 90 days in any 180-day period.
If you plan to visit the country for immigration purposes, an extended stay or for committing several visits to the country, a total period of which exceeds 90 days in a 180-day period, you must apply for a long-term visa by contacting the Civil Registry and Migration Department.
2. Airport Transit Visa (ATV)
This visa category entitles aliens who are required to have such a visa to pass through the international transit area of Cypriot airports without actually entering the national territory of Cyprus, during a stop-over or transfer between two stages of an international flight. The requirement to have this visa is an exception to the general right to transit without a visa through Cyprus.
Please find a list of countries whose nationals are subject to the airport visa (ATV) requirement at the end of this page.
To apply for all the above mentioned categories of visas one must submit the appropriate set of documents to the Visa Section of the Consulate General List of required documents.
As of May 2009 a simplified system of granting permission to enter the Republic of Cyprus PRO-VISA has been introduced. It applies only to holders of Russian passports who intend to travel from Russia to Cyprus by a direct flight. Pro-visa is a provisional visa which is issued for an electronic application of a tourist at the Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus. The final entry permit (visa) is placed in a tourist’s passport at the airport upon arrival to Cyprus.
For the convenience of tourists, this system provides the possibility of electronic submission of the application, i.e. by e-mail.
A necessary condition for the issuance of pro-visa is a valid passport, with validity not less than 6 months from the date of application to the Consulate of Cyprus.
Please be ready to provide at the airport in Cyprus documents which confirm:
- a purpose of travel and accommodation in Cyprus;
- an availability of sufficient funds for stay and return to the country of permanent residence;
Pro-visa is issued for a single entry with the right to stay up to 90 days.
Duration of stay may not exceed 90 days during any 180-day period.
Third country nationals (non EU)*, holders of a valid Schengen Visa (category C, single**, double or multiple entry) who have already visited Schengen area according to the requirements of the Schengen visa they possess, can enter Cyprus without Cyprus national visa and stay in the Republic of Cyprus for a period equal to the remainder of the duration of stay provided by the Schengen visa they possess and the latest by the date of its expire.
- ENTRY UNDER THE SCHENGEN VISA AND RESIDENCE PERMITS IN THE EU AND SCHENGEN STATES
Third country nationals (non EU)* holders of a valid visa category D and residence permit in the European Union (except the UK and Ireland) and the Schengen countries have the right to visit Cyprus without an additional visa under the following conditions:

- have sufficient funds for stay and return to the country of permanent residence;
- be absent from the list of persons prohibited to enter the territory of the Republic of Cyprus. Duration of stay may not exceed 90 days during any 180-day period.
* There is an exception to the rule, which concerns the citizens of the Republic of Turkey who need to be issued a national Cyprus visa to visit Cyprus.
** It is possible to enter the Republic of Cyprus using a single entry visa category C only if a traveller enters one of the Schengen countries first and follows directly from thence to Cyprus.
