Registration at the Consulate-General in Toronto (GCT) is voluntary. However, registration is welcome as it aids the Consulate's contingency planning and consular assistance in the event of an emergency. Furthermore, registered Cypriots are included in the mailing list of the Consulate's newsletters and invitations to certain events organised for the Cypriot community in Ontario.

All Cypriots are strongly encouraged to respect and obey Canadian laws while in Canada. If you are arrested, you are entitled to consular assistance from the Consulate-General.

No. The Consulate-General of Cyprus cannot represent Cypriot citizens in court nor advise them on legal matters. Instead, you may wish to consult with an attorney in Canada, who can provide advice on your options and remedies within the Canadian legal system.
