Demetris Assos is the fifth Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the State of Palestine. He assumed duties on 29 July 2021 and on 14 October 2021, he presented his credentials to President Abbas. He is a graduate of the English School. He studied History and Politics at the University of Durham and later did his postgraduate studies in Modern History, also at the University of Durham. In 2009 he received his doctorate in History from the Institute of Commonwealth Studies of the University of London.
He joined the diplomatic service of the Republic of Cyprus in 2009. He has served as deputy head of mission in Tehran and Consul General in St Petersburg.
He is married and has two daughters.
