The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Alexandros N. Zenon, participated in the High Level Segment of the 34th Human Rights Council (27 February - 1 March), as Head of the Delegation of the Republic of Cyprus.

During his stay in Geneva he has met the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr. Filippo Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein and the Director General of the UN Office in Geneva, Mr. Michael Møller. The Permanent Secretary discussed with his interlocutors matters pertaining to their portfolios and briefed them on the negotiations for the settlement of the Cyprus Problem.
On the sidelines of the HRC, the Permanent Secretary held a series of bilateral meetings, that included the Deputy Foreign Minister of Bahrein, Mr. Abdulla Faisal Al-Doseri, the Minister of International Cooperation of Australia, Ms. Concetta Fierravanti-Wells,the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Mr. Kairat Abdrakhmanov, the Foreign Minister of Egypt, Mr. Sameh Hassan Shoukry, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Greece, Mr. Ioannis Amanatides, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Mr. Ashot Hovakimian, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Serbia, Katarina Lalic Smajevic and the Minister and President of the Human Rights Committee of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Bandar bin Mohammad Alaiban.
