The Permanent Mission of Cyprus participated today, along with the other Permanent Missions of EU member States based in Geneva, in the annual festivities in honour of ‘Europe Day’.
The Cyprus stand, set up by our Mission, served culinary spécialités from Cyprus, together with select wines made from grape varieties that are particular to the island. Cyprus dishes presented at the lunchtime reception included keftedes (meat balls), koupepia (stuffed vine leaves), halloumi cheese in different forms, traditional dips, salads and Cyprus sweets.
The event, which is traditionally co-organized by the EU Delegations to the UN and WTO respectively, welcomed this year hundreds of high-ranking officials working in the International Organizations and Permanent Missions in Geneva, who had a chance to sample the culinary traditions of the 28 member States of the Union.
