Presentation of Credentials of the new High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus in Sri Lanka


The new High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to Sri Lanka, Mr. Agis Loizou presented his credentials on 1st February 2019, to the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, H. E. Mr. Maithripala Sirisena, during an official ceremony that took place at the Presidential Palace, in Colombo.

Τhe High Commissioner conveyed to the Sri Lankan President the warm greetings of President Anastasiades, the Government and the People of Cyprus, expressing Cyprus’ gratitude for the constant and principled support of Sri Lanka towards the respect for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus. 


While stressing the excellent level of diplomatic and political bilateral relations, H.E. President Sirisena, High Commissioner Loizou, as well as the Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Tilak Marapana, with whom Mr. Loizou had a bilateral meeting, emphasized the need for further strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation in sectors of common interest, such as tourism, energy, human resources, education and investments, in order to further develop the already excellent relations existing between the two countries.
