High Commissioner’s message
Welcome to the official website of the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in London.
We have aimed to create a site which will be useful to those who need to access information about Cyprus at a variety of levels.
With the accession of Cyprus to the European Union in May 2004, the island has become an even more important business, educational and medical hub in eastern Mediterranean and has attached a high level of interest from European partners and others.
Cyprus has had a long and special relationship with the United Kingdom that has spanned more than one century. This has included political and economic relations but also educational and cultural links. All these are vital and must be preserved in the context of our new relationship as partners in the European Union.
With more than 300,000 UK citizens of Cypriot descent, the site also aims to provide channels of communication between the diaspora and Cyprus.
