Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Sweden, Latvia and Norway

Solon Savva joined the Foreign Service of the Republic of Cyprus in 2002.

During the period 2002-2005, he served in the Cyprus Question Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Desk Officer for Council of Europe issues.

In 2005 he was posted in Dublin where he held the position of the Deputy Head of Mission and Consul at the Embassy of Cyprus in Ireland. Between 2008-2011 he served as the Political Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Washington D.C.

In September 2011, Mr. Savva returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nicosia where he assumed duties as the Deputy Director of the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From January to March 2013 he served as the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Lisbon.

Upon his return to Nicosia, he was assigned the position of the Desk Officer for the relations of the Republic of Cyprus with the British Bases in Cyprus (2013-2014).

In July 2014, Mr. Savva was posted in the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in London where he served as the Political Counselor until 2016. Between 2016-2018 he took up the position of the Deputy High Commissioner of Cyprus in the United Kingdom.

In August 2018, he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nicosia where he was given the portfolio of the relations of the Republic of Cyprus with the British Bases in Cyprus.

Between the period of April 2019 – March 2022 he served as the Director of the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In April 2022 he was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Sweden.

Mr. Savva was born in 1977 in Larnaca, Cyprus. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Chicago. He speaks Greek and English. He is married to Christina Aristidou and they have one son.
