IMPORTANT NOTE


Visas can not be issued by the Embassy to foreign nationals who live in Poland or Lithuania and are not in possession of a valid residence permit card.


CONSULAR SERVICES

The Embassy’s Consular Section offers a wide range of consular services to the public, as well as consular support and assistance, specifically to Cypriots based in Poland or Lithuania.

Consular services offered include the following (the list is not exhaustive):


    · CERTIFICATION OF AUTHENTICITY OF SIGNATURE:

    The signature must be placed on the document before a consular officer of the Embassy. Please note that the person signing the document must provide proof of his/her identity (passport/ driving license/identity card).


With regards public documents of Poland and Lithuania, state parties to the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of legalization for Foreign Public Documents (Hague, 05 April 1961), if these have received the Apostille certification from the relevant authorities of these countries, then they are recognized in Cyprus and nothing else is required from our Diplomatic Mission.

EU Regulation 2016/1191 abolishes the requirement for «Apostille» certifications for some public documents and simplifies procedures concerning their certified copies and translations. Under the aforementioned Regulation, EU citizens can ask for a multilingual form/certificate from the authorities of the EU country which issued the public document and this in order to avoid having to provide a translation of the public document.

    · ISSUING OF VISAS:

Anyone looking to enter Cyprus requires an Entry Visa issued in advance unless they fall in one of the following categories:

1. Nationals of EU member States, on the basis of a valid national passport or ID document (bearing photo).

2. Third country nationals (non-EU) holding a valid residence permit or a valid Schengen multiple Visa Category D from any EU member State (excluding the UK and Ireland) or from Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Lichtenstein
[It does not apply to citizens of Turkey and Azerbaijan].

3. Third country nationals holding a valid and activated double or multiple Schengen Visa, covering the duration of their intended stay in Cyprus
[It does not apply to citizens of Turkey and Azerbaijan].

4. Nationals of the following countries, provided the validity of their passport exceeds the duration of their intended stay in Cyprus by at least three months:
Albania
*, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Bosnia-Herzegovina*, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica, Georgia*, Grenada, Guatemala, Holy See, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Kiribati, Liechtenstein, Malaysia, Marshall Islands, Mauritius, Mexico, Micronesia, Moldova*, Monaco, Montenegro*, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Honduras, Palau, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Republic of North Macedonia*, Samoa, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Salvador, San Marino, Serbia*, Seychelles, Singapore, South Korea, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Ukraine*, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Uruguay, Vanuatu, Venezuela, Taiwan (entities and territorial authorities), Hong Kong S.A.R. & Macao S.A.R. (Special Administrative Regions of the People’s Republic of China).

*Only for holders of biometric passports

5. Holders of diplomatic, official or service passports from the following countries: Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia Herzegovina, Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Qatar, Armenia, China, Costa Rica, Georgia, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Moldova, Russian Federation, Serbia, Seychelles, Ukraine, Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Colombia, Cuba, India, Mexico, Panama, Marshal Islands, Tuvalu, Kiribati, Peru, United Arab Emirates, Tonga, Palau, St. Lucia, Dominica, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Vanuatu, Samoa, Trinidad and Tobago and Republic of Korea.

6. Flight crew members in possession of a Flight crew Member’s License or a Crew Member Certificate issued under the Chicago Convention.

7. The civilian crew of ships.

8. Holders of United Nations laissez-passer.

9. Holders of Council of Europe laissez-passer.

10. Holders of valid Bulgarian, Croatian and Romanian national visa, as well as residence permits issued by Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania, are not required to hold a short-stay visa to enter the Republic of Cyprus for a time period that does not exceed 90 days in any 180-day period. This provision doesn’t apply to Citizens of Turkey and Azerbaijan who have to follow the regular visa issuance procedure. [The Republic of Cyprus has adopted the provisions of Decision No. 565/2014/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 May 2014 introducing a simplified regime for the control of persons at the external borders based on the unilateral recognition by Cyprus as well as by Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania of certain documents as equivalent to their national visas for transit through or intended stays on their territories not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period].

11. Holders of travel documents issued to recognized refugees under the Convention relating to the Status Refugees of 28 July 1951, do not require a visa to enter Cyprus, if their travel documents are issued by a member-state of Schengen or by a state listed in Annex II to the Council Regulation 539/2001 as per its amendments.

12, Holders of travel documents issued to stateless persons under the Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons of 28 September 1954, do not require a visa if the documents are issued by a member state of Schengen and the holders of these documents are residing in this Member State.

13, All persons who are in possession of work permit or entry permit issued by the Civil Registry and Migration Department.

14. All persons who possess a permanent or a temporary residence permit issued by the Civil Registry and Migration Department.

Documents Required for Visa Application

1. One completed Application Form (to be downloaded from Applications/Documents) the signed by the applicant (or the legal guardian in the case of minors) with 2 passport sized photographs attached.

2. A national passport valid for at least three months longer than the validity of the visa being applied for. Those who are residing in Poland or Lithuania should have a visa or residence permit expiring after the return of the applicant from Cyprus.

3. Provisional booking of an air ticket with fixed days. Ticket should not be purchased before the visa is issued.

4. Hotel Reservation if applicant will stay there.

5. Health insurance of minimum 30000 Euros for covering the whole duration of the visit (the insurance is encouraged but it will become obligatory from 1 January 2023).

6. If visiting on business, an official letter of invitation from a Cyprus company must be presented.

7. If visiting friends or family, a letter of invitation from them with their full address, phone number and occupation in Cyprus together with a certified Assumption of Responsibility form (to be downloaded from Applications/Documents), duly completed and signed by the host in front of a certifying officer.

8. Solid evidence that there are sufficient funds to cover the cost of the intended stay in Cyprus such as a bank statement with the transactions of the last three months.

9. A recent (less than one month old) official letter from the employer addressed to the Cyprus Consulate with proof of the applicant’s salary. If self-employed, a letter from the solicitor, the accountant or the bank manager of the applicant. If a student in the country of the Consulate, an original letter from the school or University addressed to the Cyprus Consulate confirming the status / attendance and the duration of the course.

10. The Consular Section may also ask for a copy of a Bank Guarantee Letter from the host, throughout a visitor’s stay in Cyprus, so as to cover the possible cost of repatriation. The amount of the guarantee that should be submitted depends on the country of origin of the third country national (see the relevant link from the website of the Civil Registry &Migration Department).



    · APPLICATION FOR THE ISSUANCE OF CRIMINAL RECORD CERTIFICATE:


Applicants who have lived in Cyprus for a minimum of 6 months and require a criminal record certificate, must present the following documentation:

-Birth certificate
-Applicant’s Identity Card
-Current passport and passport held while living in Cyprus
-The relevant application form duly completed ((to be downloaded from Applications /Documents)
-For non-Cypriot Citizens pink slip/Alien book/yellow slip or any other proof of having resided in Cyprus
-Copy of proof of fees paid 20 euros (F18 receipt)

Application can be filled in English. Please present original documents required and a copy of each for submission. Any questions regarding the issuance or application of a Certificate of Clear Criminal Record should be made to the Police Headquarters in Cyprus: 00357 22 80 80 80. More information is provided at the Cyprus Police website: www.police.gov.cy

It is noted that the process is finished in around 3 moths. In case of urgency, the public is advised to inform accordingly the consular section so that the relevant documentation is send to the Police Headquarters in electronic form.

SERVICES TO CYPRIOT NATIONALS

Apart from the services listed above, the following services are offered specifically to Cypriot nationals residing in Poland and Lithuania and are the following:

ISSUING OF A PASSPORT AND/OR IDENTITY CARD

Following the introduction recently of new, biometric type passports and identity cards of the Republic, this service is currently available only from specific Cyprus diplomatic missions, with the closest being the Embassies of the Republic of Cyprus in Berlin, Stockholm, Vienna and the Hague. Therefore, Cypriot nationals wishing to apply for a new passport or/and identity card need to contact the Embassies above or apply directly in Cyprus (especially in urgent situations).

ISSUING OF A TEMPORARY TRAVEL DOCUMENT

This service is available to individuals who are not in possession of a valid passport or identity card (expiration, theft or loss) and need to travel abroad urgently.

An application is submitted to the Embassy on form M9 (to be downloaded from Applications /Documents) along with police report and two photos and the Travel Document is issued by the Embassy during one working day. The applicant should present proof of his identity such as copy of his passport or identity card.

Fee: 20 euros – payable upon submittal of the application.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

In cases of emergency, Cypriots finding themselves in Poland or Lithuania may apply to receive a sum of money from the Embassy to cover their urgent needs, provided that a family member or friend of theirs in Cyprus visits the Accounts Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nicosia and deposits the equivalent amount to their credit.

APPLICATION FOR A CONSULAR BIRTH CERTIFICATE

This service is available in cases where a child is born either in Poland or Lithuania to at least one Cypriot parent (both parents' consent is required).

An application needs to be submitted on form M.121 (to be downloaded from Applications/Documents), along with the necessary documentation in support, which is as follows:

· Birth certificate of the applicant with a relevant translation to be certified with APOSTILLE
· Marriage certificate of the applicant's parents
· Photocopy of the applicant's and the applicant's parents' passports
· Certificate of registration of the Cypriot parent (where applicable)
· Copy of proof of fees paid 20 euros (F18 receipt)
· Stamp worth 9 euros attached to the application

The Embassy will forward the above to the Civil Registry & Migration Department, in order for the child to be registered as Cypriot citizen and for the Birth Certificate to be issued accordingly. This will then be sent to the Embassy for delivery to the applicant.

Fee: 20 euros – payable upon submittal of the application and 20 euros for Consular Birth Certificate.

ACQUISITION OF CYPRUS CITIZENSHIP DUE TO CYPRIOT ORIGINS OR MARRIAGE TO A CYPRIOT

The types of applications for the acquisition of the Cypriot citizenship due to Cypriot origin as well as their accompanying documents are the following (the relevant forms can be downloaded from Applications /Documents):

1. Application for Consular Birth Certificate (See above)

2. Application for the Registration of Minors (type M126)

It can be submitted for minors, who were born prior to the 11th of June 1999 in Cyprus or abroad and whose mother is a Cypriot citizen and father a foreigner or for minors whose father acquired the Cypriot citizenship after their birth.

Additionally, the application can be submitted for minors, whose father or mother acquired the Cypriot citizenship by Naturalization or by Registration due to marriage with a Cypriot citizen.

Accompanying documents:

· Birth certificate of applicant
· Marriage certificate of applicant’s parents
· Photocopy of the applicant's and the applicant’s parents’ passports
· Certificate of acquisition of the Cypriot citizenship of the Cypriot parent (where applicable)
· Declaration of the foreign parent signed before an officer of the District Administration Office or the
diplomatic authority consenting to the granting of the Cypriot citizenship to minor child. The statement is
not required if the Cypriot parent had obtained a court decision for sole parental care of the minor. A
copy of the relevant court decision should be attached.
· Photocopy of receipt for the amount of 80 euros paid as fees
· A stamp of 9 euros placed on the application
· Two photographs (passport size)

It is noted that applications for children with parents of Cypriot citizens who have acquired the citizenship by Naturalization or by Registration due to marriage with a Cypriot citizen, the following should be additionally attached:

· Certificate of Registration or Naturalization of Cypriot parent
· Copy of certificate of school attendance
· Photocopy of valid temporary residence permit for the child

3. Application type M71

It can be submitted by persons born prior to the 16th of August 1960, who are citizens of the United Kingdom and its former colonies, who originate from Cyprus form the male side and reside permanently abroad.

4. Application type M72

It can be submitted by persons born prior to the 16th of August 1960, who are not citizens of the United Kingdom and its former colonies and who originate from Cyprus from the male side.

Accompanying documents for 3 & 4:

· Birth certificate of applicant
· Birth certificate of applicant’s father
· Photocopy of applicant’s passport
· Photocopy of receipt for the amount of 20 euros paid as fees
· A stamp of 2 euro placed on the application


5. Application type M123

It can be submitted by adults who were born on the 16th of August 1960 or after and none of their parents at the date of their birth was a Cypriot citizen.

Additionally, it can be submitted by adults who were born after the 16th of August 1960 and originate from a person, who became a British citizen based on the Annexation of Cyprus Orders in Council 1914 to 1943 or a person born in Cyprus after the 5th of November 1914 and prior to the 16th of August 1960.

Accompanying documents:

· Birth certificate of the applicant
· Marriage certificate of the applicants’ parents
· Photocopy of the applicant's and the applicant's parents' passports
· Certificate of registration of the Cypriot parent (where applicable)
· Copy of proof of fees paid 50 euros
· The application should be submitted in duplicate and one of the two application forms should bear two stamps worth 9 euros.


6. Application type M124

It can be submitted by adults of Cypriot origin, who were born before the 16th of August 1960 and are British citizens or citizens of any State of the Commonwealth and have completed one year of legal residence in the Republic.

Accompanying documents:

· Birth certificate of applicant
· Certificate of clean criminal record of the applicant
· Photocopy of applicant’s passport
· Photocopy of receipt for the amount of 80 euros paid as fees
The application should be submitted in duplicate and one of the two application forms should bear two stamps worth 9 euros.


7. Application type M125

It is submitted by a spouse of Cypriot citizen for acquisition of the Cypriot citizenship after they have completed at least three years of marriage.

Accompanying documents:

· Cypriot Spouse’s passport and ID
· Cypriot Spouse’s certificate of citizenship
· Applicant's Apostilled civil or religious Marriage Certificate
· Applicant’s Apostilled Birth Certificate
· Applicant’s Current Passport and ID
· Certificate of harmonious marriage from Archbishopric or priest stating couple’s period of marriage if possible.
Otherwise, relevant statement of Cypriot spouse not older than one month
· If Cypriot spouse is deceased, a certificate from Archbishopric or priest stating that the couple were married until the
date of death of the Cypriot spouse and that the spouse has not remarried (the death certificate of Cypriot Spouse
should be included)
· Birth certificate of couple’s children
· Applicant's Apostilled Police Clearance of clear criminal record
· The applicant and the Cypriot spouse must be present at the Embassy to sign the application form
· Photocopy of receipt for the amount of 300 euros paid as fees
· Two stamps of 9 euros placed on the application

*The consular fees are given in euros but are paid in PLN based on the exchange rate of the Central Bank of the Republic of Cyprus. The current rate can be found HERE.

** For those countries which have bilateral visa facilitation agreements with the European Union (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cape Verde, Georgia, Moldavia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine) the amount of 35 will be charged for both single and multiple entry visas. From those countries, citizens of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldavia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine, who possess biometric passports do not need a visa to enter the Republic of Cyprus.
