On 14 March 2022, the Mayor of Morphou, Mr Victor Hadjiavraam, met with the Mayor and Governor of Vienna, Mr Michael Ludwig, in the Vienna City Hall. Mayor Hadjiavraam was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Vienna, Ms Elena Rafti, and the President of the Cypriot Cultural Centre of Vienna, Mr Kyros Patsalides.

During the meeting, Mr Hadjiavraam stressed that the international community should do more towards a fair solution of the Cyprus issue, which will enable the two communities to live together harmonically in a reunited island.

The Ambassador of Cyprus, Elena Rafti, thanked the Mayor of Vienna for the hospitality in the Austrian capital. Moreover, she informed him of the efforts by the Government of the Republic to Cyprus with the aim of creating favourable conditions for the resumption of talks.
