The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Ambassador Ms Elena Rafti, represented Cyprus in this year’s Ministerial Council of the Organization, which took place in Milan from 6 to 7 December 2018, under the Chairmanship of the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Enzo Moaverlo Milanesi.
The 57 participating states agreed on decisions regarding the politico-military, economic and environmental, and human dimension of the OSCE. It was agreed, inter alia, to further the support the OSCE’s work for addressing the threat by small arms and light weapons and stockpiles of conventional ammunition, to develop human capital in the digital era as well as to enhance the safety of journalists. Furthermore, decisions have been taken on preventing and combating violence against women and countering the trafficking of children. A declaration on the enhancement of security and co-operation in the Mediterranean has also been adopted.
