On 17 December 2018, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Slovenia (resident in Vienna), Ms Elena Rafti, presented her credentials to the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor, during an official ceremony in Ljubljana.
Αt a private meeting following the ceremony, the Ambassador conveyed to the President of Slovenia the warm greetings of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Anastasiades. She also referred to the importance Cyprus attaches to the further development of its relations with Slovenia, as demonstrated by the upcoming visit of President Anastasiades at the beginning of 2019. President Pahor stated that he is looking forward to the visit of Mr Anastasiades and affirmed that all necessary actions will be taken for its excellent preparation. Furthermore, the Ambassador briefed Mr Pahor on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus issue. EU matters, migration, and the Western Balkans were also on the agenda.
During her two-day visit in Slovenia (from 17 to 18 December 2018), Ambassador Rafti also had meetings with the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr Dobran Božič, the State Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister, Mr Roman Kirn, the Director-General for EU Affairs at the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr David Brozina, as well as with other officials in view of the visit of the President of the Republic of Cyprus to Slovenia.
