On 27 July 2017, Col. Antonios Demetriades, Military Adviser of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Vienna delivered his military uniform upon a request of the Austrian Parliament, for placing it in the Austrian Museum of Military History. It should be noted that it is the first time that an officer’s uniform of the Republic of Cyprus will be exhibited in the Military History Museum. The handover ceremony took place in a hall of the Austrian Parliament. Besides Col. Demetriades, Mr. Marco Mercuri, Secretary at the Defense Committee of the Austrian Parliament and Lt. Col. Stylianos Antoniou, Mr. Demetriades’ successor in the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Vienna, were also present at the ceremony. The uniform will be included at a special place in the Museum, where uniforms of officers of EU member states –and other countries-, who were accredited to Austria, are exhibited.
